What does it mean to be a good programmer?
Ania
In today's episode, we asked our programmers: what do they consider to be the characteristics of a good programmer? See what character traits and skills you need to possess if you want to be perceived as a good programmer.
How to recognize a good programmer
According to our programmers, the following factors determine success in the IT world:
- First and foremost, you enjoy programming.
- You want to be very good at what you do, and at the same time, you have no qualms (or objections) about asking others for help.
- You know how to approach your work in the simplest (and most efficient) way possible.
- You know what you don't know, and strive to make up for your shortcomings.
- You think unconventionally and are able to solve problems because of it.
- You don't get lost in your own code.
- You can choose the right tools to solve the right problems.
- You maintain a "cool head," even in difficult situations (such as a program crashing in production).
- You have no problem accepting constructive criticism.
- Problems are challenges for you.
